A one-day Continuous Medical Education (CME) Symposium on Research Methodology and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was successfully conducted at Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) on Wednesday.
Organized by the Research Department of BKMC in collaboration with the Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Peshawar, the session was aimed at enhancing research capabilities and statistical analysis proficiency of the participants. The event was specifically designed for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, as well as the faculty members of both BKMC and Bacha Khan College of Dentistry (BKCD).
The symposium was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Amjad Ali, the Dean and CEO of Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) BKMC Mardan, who served as the chief guest. The event was chaired and hosted by Associate Dean of Research at BKMC, Assistant Professor Dr. Noorul Hadi.
The symposium’s sessions were expertly moderated by Dr. Mumtaz Muhammad and Dr. Farah Sagheer, both esteemed members of PGMI. The organizing committee comprised several prominent figures from BKMC, including Associate Dean Prof. Dr. Mohtasim Billah, Associate Dean Clinical Prof. Dr. Rehman Uddin, and Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education, Associate Prof. Dr. Naeemul Haq.
Prof Dr Amjad Ali said that the session provided valuable insights into various aspects of medical research and statistical analysis and will prove pivotal in the advancement of medical research in the institution.
He said the symposium will help equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct high-quality research. He vowed to organize such important educative session in future as well.
The participants were engaged in comprehensive sessions that covered a wide range of topics, including research methodology, medical writing, and bioethics. A significant highlight of the symposium was the hands-on training session on SPSS, a powerful statistical software widely used in the field of medical research.
This practical session allowed attendees to gain firsthand experience in data analysis, which is crucial for conducting robust and credible research.
